Opus Dei is a controversial Catholic group based in 1928 by Josemara Escriv. The group’s acknowledged mission is to advertise holiness and evangelization amongst strange folks. Opus Dei has been accused of being a cult, and its members have been accused of participating in brainwashing and different types of abuse.
Considered one of Opus Dei’s most bold initiatives is Undertaking 2025, a plan to extend the group’s membership to 250,000 by 2025. The undertaking was launched in 2015, and it has been met with blended reactions.
